The Lake District is our larder - Graythwaite estate pheasant reared in the wild; Hawkshead organic 'Lake Trout' from Esthwaite Water; the Woodall family's traditionally-cured hams and Cumberland Sausage from Waberthwaite; slow maturing Herdwick lamb, naturally grown on the fell farms of Langdale, Wasdale, Borrowdale and Buttermere; cheeses fresh as the dairy and plump, deep crimson damsons from the Lyth Valley.

Our menu ideas are as fresh as the ingredients. To the pick of local produce, raised in clear Cumbrian air, we add a dash of imagination and create dishes to tempt every tastebud - Cumbrian and cosmopolitan. That's why our visitor's book is filled with compliments on the quality of our food.

You can eat in the lounge by the fire or in the dining room. Either way, the atmosphere is relaxed and informal. There is no better way to end the day, after exploring the delights of the Lake District landscape, than to sample its delectable fruits.
